Our Golden Jumper award, this week goes to

04.11.22

Our Good Learner this week is

Home Learning.

Each week, your child will receive some home learning. They will have a home learning book which will be inside their school wallets. These will come home on a Friday and we ask for it to be returned on Thursday the following week. Some learning may be electronically set through Ed Shed or Read Theory, for example. All their passwords and log in details can be found inside their reading record as well as their home learning book.

Street ChildConvert  This half term we are reading the brilliant text 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty in our English lessons.

Street Child is Berlie Doherty's bestselling novel based on the story of Jim Jarvis, who alerted Dr Barnardo to the plight of destitute children in Victorian London. After escaping from a workhouse, his adventures and hardships finally led him to attend a Ragged School, where Barnardo asked him for his story.

Mathematics

In maths, we will be teaching the block of learning 'Place Value' for the first two weeks. Your child will be solving calculations and problems using place value charts and counters, part-whole models, gattegno charts and more.

Autumn 2:

We will continue some work on multiplication and division first of all before we move on to fractions (my favourite)

COMING SOON... If you wish to support your child at home with their maths learning and homework, head to your child's learn page where you can find some helpful workbooks that match the work they will be doing in class and also some helpful videos.

Remember to use your passwords to log in and practise those times tables!

Each term we would like the children to be able confidently answer what we call the 'Key Instant Recall Facts'. This term, I would like the children to work on being able to know the multiplication AND division facts for all times tables up to 12 x 12. See Autumn term 1 on the attached document. Key Instant Recall Facts
